Cool Wave pansies are from the same people who gave you Wave Petunias. I purchased these pansies at the local independent garden center already in the hanging baskets. All I had to do is bring them home and hang them up.
Pansies have been around forever. They are meant to be annuals we buy in the spring and in the fall. Sort of pre and post garden season color. Pansies appear in the cool of early spring and again, in cool fall temperatures.
After the summer annuals are exhausted and too ugly to live, pitch them. Refill those hanging baskets with a new burst of color and energy. This Cool Wave tends to spread more than old fashioned pansies. That means it takes fewer plants per hanging basket to achieve the same effect.
These bold colors are supposed to be perennials to zone 5. My southeast Missouri garden is zone 6 and the little pansies are continuous bloomers. Our pansies fail for one of two reasons: because we fail to water them and two, because we over water and fertilize them.
